WoW Paladin Glyphs
With patch 3.0, before Wrath of the Lich King hit the shelves, Blizzard introduced a new profession to the game: Inscription. A follower of this profession, a scribe, is able to create glyphs that modify the spells and abilities of a player. Such a modified spell is able to deal more damage or has a slightly changed function. Once you reach level 80 you will have 6 glyph slots, 3 for minor glyphs and 3 for major glyphs. The minor glyphs are of cosmetic nature most of the time, eventually removing a required reagent or reducing the mana cost of a spell. Major glyphs however are an important aspect in the end game, as they are able to greatly increase the damage of a spell or completely change the way a spell works. Glyphs are created by a scribe who will need some parchment and ink to produce them. Parchment can be bought from a vendor, while ink needs to be created from herbs, which are milled into pigments. There are different types of ink, depending on the level of the herbs used. Most end game glyphs will require herbs from Northrend.
The glyph choice naturally depends on the Paladin's talent spec, even if there are some crossovers. Both the Retribution and Protection Paladin use the Glyph of Judgment and the Glyph of Seal of Vengeance to increase their damage. A Retribution Paladin will also use the Glyph of Consecration for better mana efficiency. A Protection Paladin will use the Glyph of Divine Plea, further reducing his incoming damage. A Holy Paladin will improve his healing spells with his Glyphs and his Seal of Wisdom.
The minor glyphs will be used to improve Lay on Hands. Detect Undead is a good Glyph when fighting undead mobs in Naxxramas or Icecrown Citadel. A Holy Paladin will Glyph his Seal and Blessing of Wisdom.
